A place of restful silence
Mount St Joseph Retreat House is an invitation to leave the fast pace of modern life and to enter into a haven of peace and quiet. Set in 45,000 metres square of land and surrounded by unbroken stretches of rolling Maltese countryside, Mount Saint Joseph Spirituality Centre is uniquely positioned to offer a place of restful silence. Whether it is just for a day of prayerful meditation or for a longer time of reflection, Mount St Joseph is a place where you can stop to unwind and enter into those rare moments of blissful solitude.
At the centre of the spacious gardens is the Retreat House itself, an architectural beauty of the early 20th century. The building’s historical and architectural value was recognised by the national Planning Authority, who included the building in the list of national scheduled properties that merit protection and conservation.
Spread over 3 storeys, the guest room area can accommodate up to 78 persons in total in 40 bedrooms, each equipped with private toilet and shower facilities.
Specially equipped rooms and facilities are available for wheelchair-bound persons.
Generous facilities for conferences and meetings
Groups have ample space to meet in the 4 meeting halls, 3 chapels, 2 dining halls and a number of small meeting rooms equipped with modern conference facilities.
Chapels and Prayer Rooms
A sunny chapel on the first floor is the ideal venue for prayer and liturgical celebration and comfortably seats up to 100 persons. A smaller chapel on the ground floor offers a more intimate setting for smaller groups.
The Prayer Room on the second floor is an intimate space which is designed to invite you to spend time in individual prayer and reflection. There is a second Prayer Room located in our gardens which offers you a simple ‘indoor outdoor’ space.
Conference and Meeting Rooms
Mount St Joseph includes 3 Conference Rooms seating 180, 150 and 50 persons respectively and provides a comprehensive range of audio-visual facilities and WiFi.
Apart from the main Conference Rooms, a selection of other rooms is also available for smaller group meetings and for one to one counselling.
Other Rooms and Facilities
There are two dining rooms in the house. The main dining-room is brightly lit, with warm sunshine streaming in for most parts of the day. Food is freshly prepared by a dedicated staff and individual dietary needs can be catered for. A separate smaller dining room caters for visitors on silent retreats providing an atmosphere of recollection during meal times.
A sizeable recreation room provides coffee and tea facilities, TV & DVD player, and several lounge areas with comfortable seating. This room is also suitable for group meetings or childrens’ entertainment area.
The spacious foyer allows for the reception of guests, coffee and tea breaks and, together with the two upper landings, for leisurely encounters and quiet reading.
